Transportation

Transportation: Two-lane paved roads connect Georgetown with Corriverton to the east and Linden to the south, and connect the west bank of the Demerara with the east bank of the Essequibo River. In all there are 550 kilometers of paved roads, 5,000 kms. of gravel or laterite, and 1,525 kms. of earth roads. Traffic moves on the left. Small, inexpensive mini-buses are the principal means of transport for most Guyanese. Taxi service is usually available.
