MASHRAMANI organisers want to have games, as well as local booths erected in the National Park instead of it being littered with cars and camping tents.

Mash Day Coordinator, Mr John Fernandes, said companies like COURTS Furniture Store will be setting up booths in the park on February 23.

He told reporters at a recent press briefing that he would like to meet sponsors of costumes bands, who might be interested in erecting booths in the National Park.

Organisers have posted a website - www.guyanaculture.com for members of the public to access information on Mash activities.

Fernandes said on February 23 contingents will depart at Church and Camp Street and proceed along Thomas Lands before entering the National Park.

Costume bands and floats will make two rounds in and around the Park.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Ms Gail Teixeira, who also chaired the media briefing, hinted at the possibility of the National Park being used as the venue for next year's National Children's Competitions.

She said the National Cultural Centre can no longer accommodate the number of children who attend this competition.
