Minister of Health, Dr Leslie Ramsammy has announced that within a matter of days Guyana will be equipped to test for anthrax, according to a Government Information Agency (GINA) release.

According to the release, Dr Ramsammy said that two representatives from Con Test Incorporation, a Canadian company which specialises in hazardous testing, were expected to arrive in Guyana on Monday night to start installing the equipment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

The machine, called the Hazard Cabinet, was a safe area for hazardous testing. According to the release, the minister said this meant that any such testing will be done locally.

Meanwhile, the test results of the specimen from the last anthrax scare at the Regional Democratic Council, Region Three have returned negative from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
