Roland Balgobin, 31, of Lot 9 `O' Kara Kara Linden is accused of chaining his son to a bed on December 5. The particulars of the charge are that on the day in question, the man, at Lot 4 'O` Kara Kara, used a piece of metal chain with padlocks attached to the ends to secure his son's left ankle to a bed in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering.

Reports had indicated that the man also chained his son on December 3 and 4 in an effort to keep the child out of trouble.

When the police arrested the man on December 5 the child was handed over to the Probation and Welfare Department of the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security. He was placed in an orphanage in the city.
