JUSTICE B.S. Roy issued orders nisi last Friday directing that an inquest into the August 14 killings by officers of Berbice Anti-Smuggling Squad (BASS) be conducted forthwith in Corentyne Magisterial District.

The application was made by attorney-at-law Mr. Basil Williams, on behalf of surviving relatives of Azad Bacchus, 41 and Shazad Bacchus, 15, both of Lot 33 D Race Course, Springlands and Fadil Ally, 17, of Crabwood Creek.

The three victims were killed while in BASS custody and post mortem examinations revealed that they died from gunshot wounds.
