Roxanne Winfield, the female prison officer, critically injured in the daring Mash Day jailbreak, was flown to Trinidad and Tobago yesterday, under the supervision of Trinidadian neurosurgeon, Dr Richard Spann to undergo further medical treatment.

A Government Information Agency (GINA) press release disclosed that Winfield was transported during the early morning hours to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri for the trip to the Community Hospital in Port of Spain, under tight security.

According to GINA, Winfield will receive therapeutic care, including speech therapy, at the health institution where she is expected to remain for eight weeks. The release indicated that all of Winfield's expenses, amounting to millions of dollars, are being covered by the government.

On February 23, five high profile prisoners escaped from the Camp Street prison facility, shooting and seriously injuring Winfield and fatally stabbing 21-year-old prison officer, Troy Williams.
