THE Guyana darts team returned to the country recently from the Cayman Islands, following moderate success in the Caribbean Championships. Of the twelve teams that competed, Guyana ended up in seventh place.

The find of the tour was 15-year-old Sudesh Persaud Fitzgerald who defeated some of the leading players in the region. Fitzgerald could be champion some day according to the experts who saw him in action. The other top-class performance came from national champion Norman Madhoo.

Final positions, Caribbean Championships - The Bahamas, St Lucia, Florida, Jamaica, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda, Belize, British Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands.

Guyanese players reached the quarter-finals in the mixed triples event.

Bahamas’ B. Payne won the men’s singles title while the women’s crown went to P. Francis of the British Virgin Islands.
