Guyanese bantamweight Leon Moore flattened Otis `Wonder Boy’ Zimmerman in two rounds in Curacao on Saturday to chalk up his third straight professional victory.

Moore’s manager Trinidadian Boxu Potts told Stabroek Sport yesterday that Moore gave an “awesome display” and dropped his opponent a total of five times before the fight was stopped.

“He floored Zimmerman two times in the first round and thrice in the second round which forced the referee to halt the bout,” Putts said. “It was an awesome display,” Putts added.

Putts said that despite weighing in eight pounds below Zimmerman who weighed 130 pounds, Moore was able to dictate the pace of the contest.

It was the third consecutive knock out for the gangly Moore who at 5’ 10” is considered a special bantamweight. “If he continues like this then Guyana will have another world champion within the next 12 months, Putts said.

Saturday’s bout may have been fine tuning for Moore who will return to the ring on November 23 when the Smart Touch Promotion in collaboration with Comfort Zone Taxi Service holds a boxing card in the mining town of Linden.

Moore, who is coached by Seabert Blake, down to fight Wayne Coates. Guyana’s most exciting female boxer Gwendolyn `The Stealth Bomber’ O’Neil is also scheduled to make a return to the ring on the same card.

Yesterday afternoon Dillon Carew, a former national junior welterweight champion was finalising arrangements with O’Neil’s opponent whose name he said would be released shortly.

The undefeated O’Neil was added to the card which will see boxing returning to Linden for the first time this year. Junior welterweight `Classy’ Cassius Matthews takes on Shawn Holder in a six round contest.

Laurex Benn faces Wayne Briggs in a six round welterweight encounter and Linden Arthur clashes with Errol Trotman. The card will also include several amateur bouts.
