THE Guyana Boxing Board of Control has expressed deep shock at the death of professional referee Harold Duncan. A member of the Custom Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) Duncan was gunned down by two men on Saturday night in front of his Agricola home.

Secretary of GBBC Trevor Arno was almost at a loss for words when contacted by Stabroek Sport yesterday. "We at the GBBC are very sad and shocked at his passing. We have lost a very hard worker," Arno said.

"Harold would always make himself available even though he had a very tight schedule. We have lost a very dear friend and a hard worker who cannot be replaced."

The 50-year-old Duncan has been a professional referee for over a decade and last officiated on Boxing Day when the GBBC staged an international card at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. His last bout was between Cassius Matthews and Dexter Breedy.
