The Ringside Promotions boxing group dormant since 1992 wants to come out of hibernation and stage the Veronica Simmons/ Gwendolyn O’Neal rematch.

This is according to popular promoter Herman Harris.

Harris father of World Boxing Association (WBA) champion Vivian Harris, said Ringside Promotions, which started in 1986 with the Patrick Forde versus Dennis Dalrymple fight intends to re-commence promotions with the staging of the O’Neal versus Simmons return clash.

Gwendolyn O’Neal, Guyana’s top female boxer lost to American Simmons on Boxing Day last year by a unanimous decision in their six round scrap. O’Neal later said she felt she was robbed and the proposed return bout will afford her an opportunity for revenge.

“That girl did not beat me, I win duh fight,” O’Neal had told Stabroek Sports afterwards adding...” Any-time we fight again, I will kill her.”

Should the fight come off O’Neal will get an opportunity to fulfill her predictions.

According to Harris snr., he has already contacted Lennox Blackmoore who has given all the assurance that he is ready and willing to bring Simmons back.

“We want to make that bout the main bout,” an excited Harris told Stabroek Sport .

“This will be a first in Guyana’s boxing history and we are also looking at the possibility of bringing another female American fighter to face Shondell Alfred,” Harris said.

Harris said in his opinion he feels O’Neal deserves a return bout and proffered the view that O’Neal needs technical expertise.

The venue for the six fight card will be the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall and Harris said an added attraction will be the presence of World Champions Vivian Harris and Waybe Braithwaite and former World Champion Andrew `Sixhead’ Lewis at ringside.

Harris said the trio will be home for the card.

Ringside Promotions last card was held in 1992 when Michael Parris, Guyana’s Olympic bronze medal winner fought Lalta Naraine at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
