The police are yet to lay charges against those persons who were interdicted in the Old Age Pension Scam.

Seven postal officers and at least three employees from the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security have been identified as being part of a scam, which produced and redeemed forged pension vouchers, defrauding the government of over $13M.

Contacted on Wednesday, Assistant Superintendent of Police, David Ramnarine, could not say at what stage the investigations were.

He had earlier told this newspaper that the police were awaiting the report from the Auditor General’s Department before any charge or charges could be laid against the officers. The AG’s department has since issued an interim report but the police have not laid any charges.

The AG’s office was tasked with investigating the level of fraud and then handing over its findings to the police which it has done.

Stabroek News understands that the seven postal workers and the three social workers are required to report to the Criminal Investi-gation Department headquarters every day.
