LONDON, CMC - Guyana's British, Commonwealth and European middleweight boxing champion Howard Eastman is scheduled to defend his triple crown against Britain's Scott Dann on April 16.

Eastman, who retained his European title last month with a knockout win over Christophe Tendil, is a heavy favourite to beat Dann as he takes aim at another shot at the world title.

The venue for the contest is expected to be announced soon.

Eastman, 32, knocked out Frenchman Tendil on January 28 in Nottingham to regain the European title he had given up in 2001 to challenge William Joppy of the United States for the World Boxing Association (WBA) middleweight title.

Eastman, who controversially lost that title fight on points to Joppy, has an impressive ring record of 35 wins, with 31 knockouts, against one loss.

The 28-year-old Dann defeated Jamaican Delroy Leslie on a first round knockout last November en route to the title shot, and has 15 wins with 10 knockouts, against one defeat in his career.
