A Guyanese man in New York has been charged for public lewdness before a group of elementary school children. Police in Suffolk County, Long Island, say that Gangaram Bridgelal, a 35-year-old resident of Rosedale, an upscale neighbourhood in Queens, removed his clothes in front of a busload of elementary school students last week.

The students were on a field trip to another school and Bridgelall was driving his van on Sunrise Highway in Patchogue when he allegedly exposed himself and masturbated in full view of students on the bus.

He was placed on bail after being charged with public lewdness and endangering the welfare of children. Both misdemeanours carry several years’ jail if he is convicted. (Vishnu Bisram)
