Day one of the Kennard's Memorial Turf Club's Christ-mas `meet' is expected to be a scorcher with some of the country's top horses set to battle each other for honours at the club's race track, Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice.

The feature race with a first prize of $100,000 and a trophy is sponsored by DDL and is for horses classified C & Lower over a distance of six furlongs.

The top horses expected to take part include Show Time, Satranie, Sunday Heaven, Temptation, What-A-Plea-sure, Gilford, De General, Great Escape, My Arrival, Mr Hennessy, Real Pele, Cash Run and Donna among others.

The owner of each winning horse will receive a trophy. The trainer with the most wins and the champion and runner-up jockeys will also be similarly awarded.

Day two is set for Sunday (Dec. 28) with more exciting action on the Corentyne. According to a release from the club, extensive renovation is being carried out to some of its facilities in addition to repairs to the main pavilion.
