Commissioner of Police Winston Felix yesterday charged newly appointed officers to diligently endeavour to turn around the image of the Guyana Police Force and to distance themselves from the influences of corruption.

A release from the Public Relations Office of the force said that Felix was at the time congratulating the new officers at the Police Officers' Mess, Eve Leary.

He alluded to the appearance and conduct of officers and charged the new officers to pay keen attention to their departments, while keeping in view the challenges of higher responsibility including transfers and preparedness for it.

The commissioner made special mention of the four sergeants who were promoted to Assistant Superintendent on probation, all of whom hold degrees from the University of Guyana, and the appointed Cadet Officers, who are suitably qualified for the appointment.
