Following three days of trials 18 Guyanese have been shortlisted to continue preparations for the Caribbean American Football League scheduled to be held next year.

The 18 players will be under the eye of rugby coach Michael Whitehead, New York-based co-ordinator Steven Ellis said yesterday.

Ellis, who arrived in Guyana last week, said at a press conference that the response to the American football programme was good. Sessions were held at the National Park.

He added that of the 18 players, two quarter-backs, two kickers, several wide receivers and one running-back have been identified.

Barbados, Puerto Rico, The Bahamas and Guyana will participate in the CAFL. Ellis is scheduled to leave for Barbados this morning.
