LOCAL comedians Habeeb Khan, Henry Rodney and Lyndon ‘Jumbie’ Jones are teaming up for a live production of the Habeeb Khan Comedy Hour.

The show’s first airing was scheduled for yesterday on Channel Four from 21:00 hrs - 22:00 hrs.

Members of the media were on Thursday told that the programme, produced by the Richard Ousman, Director of Wonderland Tours, would be an hour of “stress free television” with matter that the entire family would enjoy. The production, which has a Caribbean flavour, will be both entertaining and educational.

He also made it clear that the programme will stay clear of all political and religious issues, since these can create some unwanted tensions.

The producer noted that the team will be aiming for a show which follows in the footsteps of the comedy `Agree to Disagree’ but which will be of a better quality.

Ousman is seeking the support of the business community to make the venture a success. He acknowledged that the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) is already on board with full sponsorship of the first show.

According to Lyndon Jones, Channel Four has agreed to do the auditing and camera work free, for the time being.

There will be a call-in segment for viewers to give their opinion of the programme and persons can also send in a joke which will be read.

The production team said that they also intend to give local comedians an opportunity to “do their stuff” on the shows. (Shawnel Cudjoe)
