THE 8th of May Village Movement, founded on May 1, 2003, was organised by villagers in the Beterverwagting/Triumph District to bring about change on the basis of harmony and cooperation.

The ultimate goal of the Village Movement is to make the development of BV/Triumph supreme and dominant in the thinking of the villagers and in the social, economic and political structures in the community.

With this goal in mind, the members focus on individual and social conditions. The most cogent reason that led to formation of the village movement is that its members believe it is the best way to obtain the cooperation and unity needed for the community’s development.

The Movement successfully organised and staged the first ever `Village Day’ celebrations on May 8, 2003.
