GUYANA tied with host Trinidad & Tobago for the overall amateur boxing title, each ending with 30 points when the Caribbean Championships ended Saturday night.

The local party returned home yesterday with the Carifta and female titles, but left the senior crown with Trinidad & Tobago.

In Carifta championships, Guyana ended with 12 points, Trinidad & Tobago nine, Jamaica five, US Virgin Islands four and Dominica three.

Trinidad & Tobago amassed 21 points in the Senior Championships, followed by Guyana on 18, Barbados ten, Dominica and Jamaica seven each.

Guyana won the inaugural female championships but only the male championships were considered for the overall title, with Barbados and Jamaica taking the third spot with 12 points each and Dominica fifth on ten.

The local touring party returned with two Best Boxers - Dennis Thomas in the Carifta championships and Melinda Daniels in the Women Championships.
