THE World Boxing Council (WBC) has swept super bantamweight Leon `Hurry Up’ Moore into its top 15 ratings.

At a time when the WBC let go of compatriot Wayne `Big Truck’ Braithwaite from its cruiserweight rankings, Moore came in at number 12 in the WBC’s latest release.

Moore will fight Mexican Moises Zamudio in Barbados on December 29.

Zamudio is the Caribbean Boxing Federation bantamweight champion and is rated 35 by the WBC.

Moore’s manager Barbadian Samuel Layne in an online interview told the Chronicle that he is happy that his charge’s quality is being noticed by such a major world body.

“I am very happy that Leon is recognised for the quality fighter he is, but we are still pursuing a fair decision with the controversial fight in Colombia. We have lawyers in Puerto Rico working on this case with the WBO and the Colombian commission,” Layne said.

Moore lost a controversial decision to Irene Pacheco in Colombia on October 21. The fight was for the WBO Intercontinental bantamweight title.

His camp immediately appealed the decision.

The defeat was the first in 17 fights for Moore. The 27-year-old has been training at the Andrew `Sixhead’ Lewis gym for the fight against Zamudio which will be in the bantamweight division.

According to Layne, the Guyanese power-puncher will be campaigning in both the bantamweight and super bantamweight categories and should have another crack at a title next year.

“Leon should be ready for another world title fight before June next year.

He made the bantamweight 118 limit with a lot of effort. He will be unbeatable at 122, that is his strongest weight,” Layne declared.

The manager added that Moore will have three other fights before attempting another world title.

“We want to be mentally and physically prepared to keep the world title for a very long time.”
