The Mayor and City Councillors (M&CC) will institute a new cleaning system at the Bourda Market from Monday.

In a press release the M&CC said it has contracted Cevons Waste Management to implement the new system where the market will be cleaned 24 hours per day. The new system is expected to be environmentally friendly and provide shoppers and vendors with a more hygienic facility to conduct their business.

The M&CC said the market, a hub of economic activity, produces more waste than any other market; 25 tonnes a day.
