GUYANA Airways 2000 (GA 2000) will be holding talks this week with other airlines to work out possible cooperation arrangements aimed at cutting costs.

A top official of the company confirmed yesterday that board members will be meeting representatives of the British West Indian Airlines (BWIA) and "other airlines."

"They're going to have talks with different airlines but I'm not sure what is going to come out of it," the official explained.

The Chronicle understands the talks are in the general trend of airline cooperation to ensure good economic arrangements.

The successor airline of the defunct Guyana Airways Corporation (GAC) currently flies to Miami and New York in the United States, and Canada.

Aviation Investments last year became the joint venture partner of GAC, receiving the mantle of control for the airline from the government.

The consortium led by the Aircraft Owners Association of Guyana (AOAG) won a bid for 51 per cent of the company.
