TWO women have been charged in another United States visa scam.
Ann Maria Narine, 26, of Lot 160 Durbana Park, Lamaha Gardens and Cheryl Ramkisson, 40, of Lot 7 Alexander Street, Kitty, both Georgetown addresses, were each put on $50,000 bail when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Paul Fung-A-Fat yesterday.
They are accused of obtaining US$18,000 and G$270,000 by fraud from Parbattie Looknauth on October 7, 1999.
The Police Prosecutor, Corporal Patrice Henry said the defendants collected the cash from Looknauth claiming they were in a position to acquire the travel document for her.
However, Looknauth did not see them again until after she reported the matter to the Police and they were arrested.
Narine and Ramkissoon will face trial on April 10.
