THE Guyana Government has described as "baseless, wicked and malicious", a recent Cana report headlined, `Strong Allegation in Guyana'.

The news item, accuses Police and Government officials of having links with bandit-killer Linden London a/k `Blackie', who died during an 11-hour stand-off with ranks from the Police and the Guyana Defence Force.

According to a statement from the Information Ministry yesterday, the Government also strongly condemns Cana for "publishing outrageous, anti-government propaganda without any recourse whatsoever, to verification or comment from the Government".

It said too, it believes that Cana "acted irresponsibly by parroting these blatant lies which have been peddled by propagandists linked to the opposition People's National Congress (PNC)."

Also, that two of the "propagandist-manipulators" were identified as being in contact with the notorious criminal, and have refused to explain to the Police their involvement with him.

The Government says it sees the latest invention, as part of a bizarre plot to divert attention from the PNC, which continues to face public outrage for its leader's glorification of a dead bandit.
