New CEO at GA 2000

FORMER BWIA General Manager for North America, Mr Tom Scarlett, is the new Chief Executive Officer of Guyana Airways 2000.

A release from the airline stated that Mr Scarlett, a Jamaican national, will assume his new post by month-end.

His appointment allows for the return of Mr Nowrang Persaud, Director of Human Resources at the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), who was on secondment to GA 2000.

According to the release, the new CEO has a distinguished 25-year track record in the airline industry, with a wide range of experience in all aspects of the business including Airport Management, Customer Service and Sales and Marketing in Jamaica, Toronto, Miami and New York.

While at BWIA, Mr Scarlett also held the post of Director of Sales and Service for BWIA's North East Region, with special focus on developing the West Indian American market.

His other assignments were General Manager, Trans-Jamaica Airlines; Director of Sales, Service and Marketing with Air Jamaica; Station Manager for Air Jamaica at Miami, New York and Toronto.

He also served with Eastern Airlines at JFK and La Guardia Airports, New York.

Mr Scarlett, who studied at the Alberta Institute of Technology and McGill University, having being awarded a Government of Jamaica Scholarship to study in Canada, has completed several technical, professional and management development courses in Aviation Management, Human Behaviour and General Management.

GA 2000 sees Mr Scarlett as an asset to the airline and its customers.
