Showcasing Guyana for the new millennium
`SHOWCASING Guyana for the new MILLENNIUM' is the theme for GUYEXPO 2000 to be staged at the Sophia Exhibition Centre in Georgetown from August 24 to 27. A release said the cultural event, which has attracted "overwhelming interest" from potential exhibitors, is "ripe with trading and investment opportunities which are open to investors in the Caribbean region and further afield". The exposition is being organised and hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Industry in collaboration with Go-Invest. "It seeks to provide an attractive platform supporting Government's efforts at promoting investments in the non-traditional sectors in a tangible manner and to provide a forum to showcase the advances made by local manufacturers, producers and service industries," the release said. Another objective is to encourage the use of local products by displaying those of high quality which are substitutes for imported commodities.
