ZURICH, Switzerland, (CANA) - Caribbean football champions Trinidad and Tobago were 29th in FIFA's world rankings for the third consecutive month when the February listing was released yesterday.
T&T remain the firm Caribbean number one, ahead of Jamaica, whom they will join in CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers this year, along with Mexico, United States, Honduras and Costa Rica.
Jamaica's Reggae Boyz, who had attained a Caribbean all-time best 27th in August 1998, moved up one place to 45th, while Cuba (78th) and Haiti (85th) are the next highest Caribbean-ranked teams.
There was one change in the Caribbean top-10, with Antigua and Barbuda slipping - from joint eighth with Grenada - to ninth at 144th in the world.
Barbados, 106th in the world, remain fifth in the Caribbean, ahead of St Vincent and the Grenadines (127th), St Lucia (139th), and Grenada (143rd).
Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica are third and fourth respectively in CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central America and the Caribbean Association Football), behind Mexico, who are 12th in the world and the United States (16th).
Honduras (47th) and Costa Rica (56th) are the next highest rated CONCACAF teams on FIFA's world list.
