LEADER of the main Opposition People's National Congress Reform (PNC/R), Mr Desmond Hoyte, has accepted President Bharrat Jagdeo's formal invitation to meet, official sources said yesterday.

The invitation was sent last week in keeping with the President's repeated calls for dialogue with leaders of political parties following the March 19 elections which his People's Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) won.

The sources said Mr Hoyte has appointed PNC/R General Secretary, Mr Oscar Clarke to meet a representative of the President to work on the agenda and other arrangements for the meeting.

President Jagdeo yesterday met leaders of the Trades Union Congress to update them and get their views on the current situation in the country.

He Tuesday morning also met members of the Private Sector Commission.
