WORLD boxing champion, Andrew `Six Head' Lewis has again called on all Guyanese to live in peace and unity.
During a news conference Friday at the GTV 11 studio, Guyana's first world champion said: "All Guyanese should live as one. They should just stop fussing and fighting. They just got to unite."
The champion said it was great coming home to Guyana, meeting his family, friends and fans.
"It was like something coming off of me," Lewis said.
The champion said that after the ups and down in the United States, he just wanted some decent fresh air.
"I must thank all Guyanese for their support. I love all Guyanese. Every time I fight, I always have the flag flying," Lewis said.
He pointed out that Guyanese support never distracted him during his first title defence at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan Centre Hotel, New York last month.
"It did not really distract me. It motivated me because I saw my people around me - everybody with the (Golden Arrowhead) just waving. I said, `Damn Boy, like this is Guyana'."
Lewis said he noticed the diverse background of all the Guyanese supporters at that fight rooting for him.
"All them Indian guys in the house. Up in the place it was like more Indians," he said.
The champion also acknowledged the strong Latin support he had during that title defence on April 28.
Champion tours house lots
ANDREW `Six Head' Lewis will receive as a gift from the Government of Guyana a house constructed on a plot of land in one of the Ministry of Housing's new housing schemes.
Yesterday, Minister of Housing officials took him on a tour of three housing schemes on which three lots were identified, and the champion boxer asked to make his choice.
The louse lots identified were 5F Block F, Meadowbrook; Lot 76 AA Eccles and Lot 91 Section A - Block X Diamond.
The boxer who seemed impressed with all three of the areas indicated a preference for either the lot at Meadowbrook or the one at Eccles.
