WORLD Champion, Andrew `Sixhead' Lewis, could be getting a minimum of US$150 000 to defend his title against Ricardo Mayorga, according to the champion's manager, Nelson Fernandes.
Fernandes informed Chronicle Sport by e-mail, Tuesday, that the World Boxing Association sent all their approved promoters a letter stating that next Monday, June 11, will be the purse bid at Caesar's Park Hotel in Pananama at noon.
There will also be the bid for the Bantamweight title fight between Paule Ayala and Eidy Moya for a minimum of US$120 000.
Top Rank the promoter of `Sixhead' Lewis will be sending a representative to bid for the fight.
Guyana's first world champion successfully defended his title against Larry Marks in New York on April 28. He won the title with a seventh round knockout over James Page on February 17.
Fernandes also disclosed that local promoter Keith Bazilio told him that the Guyana fight is almost a "done deal" but Odinga Lumumba wanted to speak with the manager last Monday.
The manager said he tried 17-18 times to reach Bazilio on Monday but was not lucky enough.
Fernandes said neither Bazilio or Lumumba has contacted him since.
