MISS Guyana, Morvinia Sobers, who is keeping a busy schedule ahead of the Miss Universe Pageant Wednesday night, has presented gifts from this country to the twin-island republic where the contest is being staged.
The svelte 33-24-38 debutante will be among the 84 beauties to be judged by celebrities including television talk show host Oprah Winfrey and heavyweight boxing champrion Evander Holyfield.
One of the presents handed over to host city of Port-of-Spain, was a 30-inch high relief sculpture in Samaan wood, themed `Guyana's Children' and crafted by Winslow Craig.
The other was a 20-inch by 30-inch acrylic painting by self-taught artist Merlene Ellis called `Loading up at Parika' that was to be auctioned Sunday evening along with gifts from other contesting countries at a Hilton Hotel function.
Both pieces were part of the treasured collection at the National Gallery of Art, Castellani House, Vlissengen Road, Georgetown but were given to Morvinia by President Janet Jagan, in keeping with a pledge made when the former paid a courtesy call on the Head of State on April 30.
Meanwhile, as the big night approaches, Morvinia and the rest of delegates are involved in personality interviews and different shows.
On Thursday, they were scheduled to take part in a live chat programme inclusive of responses to questions by journalists accredited to cover the main event.
