Guyana's debut at the Vakantiebeurs trade show held at the Jaarbeurs exhibition centre in Utrecht, Netherlands between January 11 and 16 had a positive response from the friendly throng of Dutch locals who visted the booth.
According to a recent press release from the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG), Guyana is now recognised as the new tourist attraction for "fun and adventure".
Following up on this, THAG will be promoting Guyana as a tourist destination at the next trade show in Chicago between February 18 and 20, the release announced.
The visit headed by the newly-appointed Executive Director of THAG, Donna Shortt-Gill who was accompanied by Tony Thorne, Managing Director of Wilderness Explorers was funded by Photo Natura, a Dutch photographic company which in an effort to promote Guyana has in the past years accompanied tours into Guyana and captured the essence of the country on film.
According to the release the entire booth at the Vakantiebeurs 2000 Trade Show was put together by Photo Natura and exhibited large photographs depicting vaqueros, animals, interior locations and a huge picture backdrop. The photo company will continue escorting other photographers to Guyana for the rest of the year. It was disclosed that DDL supplied El Dorado rum of all kinds for the exhibition.
