Cara Hotels is pursuing its aim of continued regional integration
with the recent acquisition of a south Trinidad hotel thanks to a
US$3M joint venture with Development Finance Limited.
According to a press release issued yesterday, a deal was struck
between the company and receiver Victor Hinds for the purchase of the
Farrell House hotel which will now be closed in order to be
extensively refurbished and reconstructed.
Speaking to Stabroek News yesterday Cara Hotels'
Sales and Marketing Manager, Davina Stevenson, explained that the
company has recognised "a niche in the regional market for more
business style hotels."
"This represents a big deal for a Guyanese company and helps us
towards our aim of regional development and integration," she
continued. "It is also something that the government has been
keen to promote."
The company believes that the thriving business community present in
south and central Trinidad represents an excellent opportunity for its
corporate-style accommodation and is looking forward to working
closely alongside the South Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the
local Rotary Clubs and the San Fernando and Point Lisas business
entities in the venture.
The refurbishment will require the demolition of the existing main
building and will include the redesigning of all guest rooms, the
insertion of state-of-the-art business conference/meeting rooms and
the construction of high quality sports facilities including tennis
and squash courts.
The revamped building is scheduled to open towards the end of the
year under the title "Cara Suites".
