The only survivor of the Buxton mass murder and suicide, Jermaine Herod, is now receiving counselling from Help and Shelter [please note: link provided by LOSP web site].
Herod, 9, paid his first visit to the organisation yesterday and spoke with officials there.
The nine-year-old lost his father, siblings and other close relatives as a result of the tragedy which struck Buxton early on the morning of July 7. Jermaine's father, Rawle Herod killed seven family members and himself in the carnage. Jermaine was shot at and injured by his father.
Social workers feel that it is now necessary to have sessions with the young boy in order to build his confidence.
A source said that the authorities at the Georgetown Hospital are awaiting a report from hospital social workers as to who should take custody of the child.
Two aunts, according to a report, have shown interest in having the boy live with them.
