A forum on border issues will be held today at the Le Meridien Pegasus Hotel by the Guyana Is First group in observance of the 100th anniversary of the Paris arbitral decision which settled this country's frontier with Venezuela.
The forum entitled `The Genesis of Territorial Issues and The Evolution of Frontiers Policy' is expected to take the form of panel discussions at which, according to a press release from the organisers, past, present and future plans, policies and initiatives will be considered.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Clement Rohee is expected to deliver the opening remarks at the function which gets underway at 9 am. There will also be presentations by Rashleigh Jackson, Ralph Ramkarran, Cedric Joseph, George Jardim, Andrew Mendes, Drs Mark Kirton, Barton Scotland and Rishee Thakur, Major General Joe Singh, Sister Noel Menezes and Jean La Rose.
The host of the event "Guyana is First", is a recently formed group of Guyanese citizens who have been meeting regularly since April to promote the idea "To heal the nation and to promote and sponsor a destiny of hope and the well being for all Guyanese".
