Superintendent Leon Fraser of the Police Anti-Crime Task Force yesterday began his testimony when the preliminary inquiry continued in the America Street cambio robbery.
However, cross-examination by defence counsel Basil Williams and Joseph Harmon was adjourned until tomorrow. On Monday, Orwin McAulay, a taxi-driver attached to the East End Taxi Service was forced to discontinue his deposition after he fainted in the witness box. At that time, McAulay was being cross-examined by Williams.
Special Prosecutor, attorney-at-law Khemraj Ramjattan, yesterday informed the court that the witness was unwell and as such was unable to attend court.
Toyin Anderson and Clyde Atwell are charged jointly with six counts of attempted murder and two of armed robbery. Along with Linden London called 'Blackie' and Andrew Douglas, for whom arrest warrants were issued, the two defendants are accused of pulling off a terrifying daylight robbery on the D. Singh and Sons cambio and a businessman on America Street on September 22. The mid-morning rampage saw millions in local and foreign currencies being stolen and six persons, including a policeman, being shot.
The inquiry continues tomorrow when it is expected that both McAulay and Fraser will be cross-examined.
