The eight-day struggle by a team of doctors and nurses in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Hospital came to an end shortly before five o'clock yesterday afternoon, when Seudyal Singh, 39, of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara died.

Singh, a security guard was injured in a grenade blast on Monday January 5, at the National Television Network (NTN). Two early morning explosions had rocked the NTN compound in Brickdam, and Singh, father of four children, who suffered internal injuries, mainly to the head, had been placed on a life support machine after he was admitted to hospital.

The bombing of the television station was condemned by political parties and leading organisations including trade unions.

The police are continuing their investigations, but have not so far held any one in connection with the incident. The bomb explosion is believed to be linked to the tension generated by the current elections crisis.
