Deal with the real issues
To the Editor
The real fact of the matter is Mr. King at the time of the shooting and afterwards, was alive and on the road to recovery and should have been alive had it not been for his inopportune and unauthorised self-discharged form the Public Hospital, Georgetown where the medical care attention was on a 24-hour basis, thus if any changes in his physical outlook was evident it would have been observed by the medical experts.
Further, the investigation being carried out by the police is still continuing to determine whether the issue is one of wrongful shooting or something to that effect.
The point is everyone with an agenda grabs on to the incident trying to see what he or she can gain. Come on people, give the police and the Guyanese public a chance to determine for themselves what the real issues are after the case is closed. Stop trying to cloud the minds of the public with your own preconceived ideas and speculations. A man is innocent until proven guilty, so allow the legal process to take its rightful course where the investigation is concerned.
The police have claimed the issue was an unfortunate one, since it was an unintentional action on the part of the police who did the shooting.
The Minister of Home Affairs has always made it clear that he does not intend to tolerate police officers who take the law into their own hands and he has always been proven as a man of his words, so let's give him a chance.
We now have a newly established Police Complaints Authority. Let them deal with the matter. Mr Cecil Kennard stated that he is ready to perform the job with utmost integrity and vigilance. Let the family take it to that authority. Let the people competent and authorised to handle these issues deal with them. Come on power seekers, let the real issues come forward.

It is with sadness that I observe the fiasco being played out with the Brian King issue by a number of political hopefuls, and the real focus or that event is being shadowed.
