Teachers leave for better conditions
Dear Editor,
Mr. Hans T. Machielse [ please note: link provided by LOSP web site ] probably lives a good life and earns more than a living wage. How else can he malign the teachers in this way? Teachers like anyone else will go where the conditions are good; the pay is good and are respected. And why accuse the US and the UK of luring our qualified Guyanese teachers when the Caribbean and African countries are also demanding them? A three year contract earns them a house, car and financial future for their families.
Yours faithfully,

This government cares not about teachers or any other public servant for that matter for they are perceived not to be their supporters.
Until the government treats all Guyanese as citizens of Guyana and give all a chance to earn a living wage, more and more Guyanese are going to move.
