It is unfortunate that a newspaper of the calibre of Stabroek News would allow a non-medical person (Padmini Mohabir, SN, l.3.02) to make dogmatic statements about medicine. Cytotec used by itself to procure an abortion is unsafe; it is associated with serious morbidity and at least one death (that I personally know of) in patients who used it for this purpose.

The indiscriminate sale of cytotec by unscrupulous pharmacists at grossly inflated prices is to be deprecated and should not be condoned by the Guyana Pharmacists' Association.
