I am an overseas-based Guyanese living in England for over 40 years and am staying at the Tower hotel on holiday.
I was running through your letter column a few weeks ago and came across a letter captioned "Waiting five years for trial". [ please note: link provided by LOSP web site ] After reading this I waited for weeks running through your letter columns to see if the authorities responsible for ensuring Christopher Noel have a speedy trial would have responded but to no avail.
In the interest of justice, fairplay and democracy when I return to England I will have my Attorney file a petition on behalf of Christopher Noel to the United Nations.
A copy of the said petition will be sent to Caricom Heads and other concerned groups internationally. I really can't understand how the PPP Civic administration can allow this to happen. Can Christopher Noel's relatives contact me on Telephone No. 0ll-718- 922-9228 on 6th April, 2002.
Yours faithfully,
John Bellamy
Editor's note:
Director of Prisons, Mr Dale Erskine, said Mr Noel was incarcerated on January 24, l997, was committed for trial on February 20, l998 and his trial ended on September 26, 2000, but was inconclusive. A retrial has been ordered.
