Sobers delighted to be involved in training camp

Sobers arrived in the country last Friday and will be spending the next few days assisting the West Indies 22-member training squad in preparation for the Indian tour of the Caribbean.
"I am delighted that the West Indies Board president (Wes Hall) and his executive decided to ask me to help the boys. Because I think we have quite a lot of good youngsters coming on," Sobers stated.
He added that he would first chat with the youngsters and find out what are their problems.
"I have to know what is troubling them before I can correct their faults. Apart from chatting with them, I want to see them in action, I want to see their technical faults before I can offer advice," Sobers further stated.
Meanwhile, double world record holder Brian Lara took his turn in the nets on Friday at the Queen's Park Oval. After visiting the doctor the day before, Lara admitted that he was still in pain from the left elbow he fractured in Sri Lanka last December, but he hopes to be match-fit for the start of the first Test against India on April 11.
During the day's session, trainer and physiotherapist Ronald Rogers strapped icepacks on Lara's injured left-arm.
Coach Roger Harper told Chronicle Sports that Lara did the beep test and had a short catching practice.
"But we will have to wait and see how it goes during the other sessions to come. I am sure he (Lara) is keen to do well," Harper said.
Harper said that most of the guys were up to the speed of the beep test, but he was a little concerned about the new players joining the team, to know where their levels are.
On Friday, the team was involved in a tactical session under the watchful eyes of Harper and Sobers.
