Burnette keeps Golden Arrowhead flying
Andrew `Sixhead' Lewis' loss of his world boxing title may have disappointed the nation, but Marian Burnette kept the Golden Arrowhead flying on the weekend on the United States athletics circuit.

According to reports from the U.S. Burnette opened her campaign on the outdoor circuit with an impressive victory in the 800 metres at the Stanford Invitational meet in California, on Sunday representing her school Louisiana State University.
Burnette outduelled a strong field, clocking a personal best outdoor time of 2 minutes 05.52 seconds, to continue her winning streak since taking up a scholarship last year at LSU.
The Guyana Police Force athlete who won the NCAA indoor title three weeks ago, was up against some of the leading 800m specialists in the United States, but was not fazed despite nursing a nagging ankle injury she picked up early in the U.S indoor season.
Her victory was the lone win for LSU, the current NCAA women's team champions which also had other runners at another meet in Texas.
Aleksandra Deren of the Ukraine and USC was second in 2.05:86 while former NCAA champion Chantee Earl of Nike Farm Team placed third in 2.06:60.
Burnette who is a member of the Guyana team shortlisted for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in England, says her immediate goal is breaking the national 800 metres record of 2.2:05 held by Lorrie Ann Adams.
She also aims to win the NCAA double at the outdoor championships scheduled for next month.
