Hundreds of persons turned up yesterday to bid farewell to Ramdeo and Mahadai Persaud, who were buried and cremated respectively at the Good Hope Burial Ground and cremation site.
From early in the morning mourners congregated at the couple's 57 Peter Street, Annandale, East Coast Demerara home to view the bodies. The two were tragically killed last Saturday by six gun-toting bandits who escaped with millions in cash and jewellery.
Both husband and wife were shot more than once and left lying on the bedroom floor for their three children to see.
Persons yesterday braved the rain at the cremation site where the woman was given an emotional send off. Her husband was buried hours after she was cremated.
Residents again yesterday lamented the couple's demise stating that they were good people and did not deserve to die in such a tragic manner.
