The edict prevents the presenter and the facilitating network from publishing or repeating an alleged libel against Home Affairs Minister Ronald Gajraj.
The Chief Justice acted when lawyers for the defendants appeared before him in chambers and requested leave to file affidavits in answer to the action.
Granting the request, the judge gave the defendants 14 days and adjourned further hearing to December 10.
Attorneys-at-law Mr. Joseph Harmon and Mr. A. Wilson represented Blackman and Sons while Mr. Basil Williams, in association with Mr. Nigel Niles, are representing Alexander.
The November 1st application for the restraint followed a claim by Gajraj for libel damages in excess of $1M after an October 28 television programme titled 'Guyana the way forward'.
Gajraj claimed the broadcast accused him of, among other things, having left the country at a time when he was needed in his capacity as Minister of Home Affairs, on a morning when wanted bandits were shot in the vicinity of his Lamaha Gardens, Georgetown home.
The plaintiff said further publication of the offending statement would do great harm to his character, having already exposed him and his family to real and serious danger and was a source of great embarrassment to the Guyana Police Force as a whole and the Government of Guyana.
