"The Office of the President clearly understands that such an eventuality would be a very good demonstration by the entire body politic about their position against crime and would be most reassuring to the public in general and to the members of the law enforcement agencies in particular," Luncheon told his regular post-Cabinet news conference yesterday.
"Additionally, it is the Office of the President’s anticipation that such an occurrence would likely have a most permissive effect and influence on the body politic and their subsequent address of other pressing issues confronting Guyana. Issues including the resolution of the parliamentary impasse, constitutional reform, and the other matters that have been dealt with adequately in the public," he added.
Luncheon also reported that the Office of the President is awaiting the results of the Social Partners review of the process of gaining assent to the crime communique.
According to him, this assent is being obtained in the context of the recent disclosures by one of the members of the planned Security Advisory Committee.
