Director and Chief Operations Officer of the Linden Power Company (LPC), Phillip Bynoe, has been fired by LPC as a direct result of the role he played in last Wednesday's events when the Office of the President was stormed.
The company's lawyer, Khemraj Ramjattan, confirmed to Stabroek News yesterday that "the relationship between LPC and Bynoe has been severed. This came about as a result of board members communicating to me through Gene Satrap that Bynoe is no longer with LPC." Satrap is the managing director of Texas Ohio Energy Inc (TOE), the US-based parent company of LPC.
Ramjattan said Laurel Michael has been placed to act in Bynoe's position until someone is appointed.
"The reason for the severing of relations was due to the activities of last Wednesday," Ramjattan said.
The police have issued a wanted bulletin for Bynoe in connection with a series of offences.
Bynoe was instrumental in bringing TOE to Guyana and was a director of the company from its inception in 1998. He took up the management position around mid-year in 2001.
Two protesters were killed when the mob swarmed the presidential complex. The police have also issued a wanted bulletin for Mark Benschop, a former talk show host, on the same charges as Bynoe. Two LPC vehicles were seen in the vicinity of the protest.
