Former World Boxing Association welterweight champion Andrew `Sixhead' Lewis is scheduled to step back into the ring on October 5 in Las Vegas Nevada.
The 31-year-old southpaw will appear on the undercard of the return bout between undefeated WBC lightweight champion `Pretty Boy' Floyd Mayweather and Jose Luis Castillo.
Lewis returned to the USA two weeks ago after a two-month vacation at home. "His manager Nelson Fernandez said yesterday that the names of Charles `The Natural' Murray a former champion and Jose Rivera who at present is ranked fourth in the welterweight division by the WBA and at least one other fighter are being considered for possible opponents.
"I spoke to Bob Arum (Lewis' promoter) on Wednesday and he said that October 5 was the day that Andrew Lewis will be returning to the ring," Fernandez said in a telephone interview from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The card will be televised live by Home Box Office (HBO).
According to Fernandez Lewis only needs one fight before making a challenge for a world title. The hard-hitting Lewis became Guyana's first world champion on February 17 last year after knocking out James Page in round seven.
He was relieved of the title in his third defence via a fifth round knockout suffered at the hands of Ricardo Mayorga last March.
