Grand programme for Amerindian Heritage Month in Region Two

The Region Two programme for Amerindian Heritage Month begins on September 1 with joint church services in the nine communities across the Pomeroon River and the Essequibo Coast.
The highlights of the special calendar of events for the celebrations are as follows:
September 6 - the nine Captains will be sworn in at the Regional Boardroom in Anna Regina.
September 8 - there will be a grand fun day at Kabakaburi in the Upper Pomeroon.
September 10 - a debating competition between Region One and Two will be held at the Charity Extension Centre.
September 11 - the Medex will give a health talk at Wakapoa in the Lower Pomeroon River.
September 12 - there will be a seminar at Mainstay/Whyaka on child abuse and violence against women.
September 16 - Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Carolyn Rodrigues will discuss "the way forward" on a live television programme on RCA TV Channel 8 at Charity.
September 18 - a talk on HIV/AIDS will be given by the Medex at Capoey.
September 19 - a health talk and visit will be done by a doctor at Mainstay/Whyaka.
September 20 - there will be a day of sports at Wakapoa.
September 23 and 26 - Heritage Day programmes will be celebrated at St. Deny's and Capoey respectively.
September 27 - an Amerindian Heritage Pageant will be held at Wakapoa.
September 29 - the grand finale of the month will take place at Mashabo.
