After about half a dozen postponements Wayne `Big Truck' Braithwaite will finally fight Italian Vincentzo Cantatore.
The fight for the vacant World Boxing Council cruiserweight title will take place on Friday October 11 in a town just outside Milan.
Braithwaite and entourage which includes trainer Colin Morgan and Maurice `Bizzy' Boyce, will depart New York on Tuesday for Italy after picking up visas one day before.
Morgan told Stabroek Sport yesterday that the undefeated cruiserweight is prepared for the big day and assured that Guyana will have its second world champion soon.
"Wayne is alright and committed to dealing with whatever Cantatore has to offer. He is one of, if not the best, cruiserweight in the world and plans to make that known come October 11," Morgan said.
Braithwaite is undefeated in 17 fight with 15 wins by knockout.
Vlad Warton, promoter of the Plaisance born fighter, was not concerned about Cantatore's home town advantage.
"Braithwaite is the best cruiserweight since Evander Holyfield. It's very hard to get a fair shake in anyone's home turf but Wayne is able to beat any opponent. Once the bell rings I don't thing anyone else can help Cantatore. God willing Braithwaite will be the next WBC cruiserweight champion," Warton told Fight News.
